Growing Connections Through Mustard Seeds

At St Joseph’s, we believe that a positive start to school begins long before a child’s first day of Prep. That is why we are proud to offer Mustard Seeds, our Pre-Prep transition program designed to help children and families become familiar with our school, staff and community before they begin their formal schooling journey.

Throughout the year, children enrolled for Prep are invited to attend a series of Mustard Seeds sessions, where they participate in engaging learning experiences, explore their new school environment and begin building relationships with future classmates and teachers. The program provides children with opportunities to develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging as they prepare for the exciting transition to school.

At St Joseph’s, we know that successful transitions are built on strong partnerships between school and home. Mustard Seeds gives families the opportunity to connect with staff, ask questions and learn more about school life, helping everyone feel supported and ready for the year ahead. As part of our broader transition approach, the program complements our parent information sessions, orientation experiences and community events that welcome families into the life of the school.

We value Mustard Seeds because it helps children begin their school journey feeling safe, connected and excited about learning. By fostering positive relationships and familiarising children with school routines and expectations, we can ensure they start Prep with confidence and enthusiasm.

It has been wonderful to welcome our future Joeys to recent Mustard Seeds sessions, and we look forward to continuing to nurture these connections as we prepare to welcome them officially to the St Joseph’s community. Together, we are planting the seeds for a lifelong love of learning, faith and belonging.
