Year 3 - 6

In Years 3–6, students are supported to become increasingly independent, resilient, and responsible learners. Our teaching philosophy recognises that children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences, collaborate with others, and are challenged to think critically and creatively.

Our classrooms foster a collaborative learning culture where students work together to share ideas, solve problems, and learn from one another. Alongside these opportunities for teamwork, students are encouraged to develop independence, take ownership of their learning, set goals, and reflect on their progress. Through this balanced approach, students build the confidence and skills needed for success both in and beyond the classroom.

A strong focus is placed on social and emotional development, recognising that wellbeing is fundamental to learning success. Through our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) practices, Friendology program, and wellbeing initiatives, students are explicitly taught the skills needed to build positive relationships, manage emotions, demonstrate empathy, and contribute positively to our school community. We work in partnership with families to support each child's academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Learning in Years 3–6 is guided by the Australian Curriculum and provides students with a broad and balanced educational experience. Students engage in learning across the following curriculum areas:

  • The Arts
  • Music
  • Japanese

Across all curriculum areas, students are encouraged to think deeply, collaborate effectively, communicate confidently, and apply their learning in authentic and purposeful ways. Our teaching approaches are designed to develop curious, capable learners who are prepared to embrace the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing world.
