Principal's Message

I thank you for visiting our website and discovering for yourself what a wonderful school community St. Joseph's School, Nundah really is.

Our school has a long history in providing a Catholic education to students in Nundah and surrounding suburbs. The Sisters of St Joseph opened our co-educational school in 1916, bringing with them the traditions and spirituality of Mary MacKillop. We are blessed to be a community where our staff and families work in partnership with enthusiasm and commitment to ensure that our students receive a high quality inclusive Catholic education, founded in the Josephite tradition.

As a Parish School we enjoy a positive partnership with the Banyo Nundah Catholic Parish and are delighted to have Fr. Daniel Redhead as a welcome presence in our school. Our students attend the Corpus Christi Church to celebrate the Eucharist and prayer liturgies. We also continue to foster a strong connection and partnership with Mary MacKillop College.

As St Joseph's principal it is my moral purpose to challenge and inspire our staff to be leaders of a Christ-centred learning community where every student, inspired by the Gospel, is a successful, creative, confident, active and informed learner empowered to shape and enrich our world. We are proud at St Joseph's of our dedicated teachers and staff who are providing our students with deep learning experiences in a caring and safe community, with the focus on student growth.

Our core values of respect, compassion, joy and justice underpin our beliefs about learners and learning. At St Joseph's, we believe in making learning visible though our whole school approach to delivering excellent learning and teaching.  The promotion of each student's progress and achievement is regarded as everyone's responsibility. Visible learning and teaching occur when learning is the explicit goal, and feedback that is given and sought from both teachers and students, is pivotal in moving learning forward. A shared language of learning is evident in all classrooms and effective practices are consistently implemented across the school. The school leadership, teachers and students all walk the learning journey together.  This greater emphasis on visible learning and teaching across our school supports our students to reach higher levels of achievement.

Our school motto, To Love, To Care, To Give, is our touchstone to encourage a flourishing and joyful community. A strong partnership between home and school enable us as a team to develop future global citizens who will be the change they want to see in the world.  In entrusting your children to us, we are committed as a teaching profession to develop future focused leaners with the skills and capabilities to thrive in a rapidly changing and interconnected world.

We looking forward to welcoming you to St Joseph's School community and encourage you to make contact if you have any questions or queries.

Many blessings,

Renae Collier
