What/who is the P&F, Why does St Joseph’s have a P&F What does it do?

The P&F Federation provides a constitution for P&F Associations which states:

The P&F Association exists to support the school community and is involved in the total life of the school. Parents/carers, as first educators of their children, have a vital collaborative role to play in the development and implementation of the educational philosophy and policy of the school.

The P&F Association plays a significant role in the development of a cooperative school community, where parents/careers are recognised as authentic partners, with teachers and the administration, in the education of their children.

P&F Associations exist for the benefit of the school and its students.

Each year, the St Joey’s Parents and Friends Association contributes towards teaching resources, development of facilities and school maintenance through funds raised, and community building through social activities.

Our mission statement:

We the parents/carers and friends of St Josephs wish to cooperate in the building of our school community by providing funding for improved educational and sporting resources, and improvements to facilities. We will work closely with our school principal and vice principal, providing input, guidance and support as parents/care givers for the educational and social development of our children.

Want to get involved, but worry about how time consuming it might be:

P&F meetings are held once a month (on the 2nd Tuesday) at 7pm in the library. Jobs are not handed out at every meeting, you will however get to hear what the P&F is up to and what activities you might wish to get involved with. Here are some examples of how you can be part of the P&F, contributing to the growth of St Joseph’s, without taking on too much:

  • Consider if you can give a few hours once or twice a year to help run a P&F lunch day, or participate in the craft group (making items for sale at the Mothers Day / Father Day / Christmas Stalls).
  • Help out for an hour at the pancake breakfast, or perhaps the Nundah Festival stall or the school disco or P&F family evenings. Assist with grant funding (research available funding or help write funding grants.
  • Pay the P&F levy, have your kids participate in the P&F lunches, buy lunch at our Nundah Fest stall, come to the discos and family evenings.

Annual fund raising activities:

  • $100 voluntary donation
  • P&F lunches
  • Craft stalls & raffles
  • Disco and family evenings (ie; BBQs)
  • Nundah Festival and Xmas in the Village stalls
  • Grants

Come on get involved – the School needs you and the P&F needs you – we need fresh ideas and help to make our goals a reality.
